If the battery has been in use for more than one year, it is important to check the condition of the battery as it is likely to be damaged and unusable; If the battery has been used for a short period of time and the starter has not been inspected for a long time, the inspection should start from the starter. Then, based on the fault phenomena during startup, analyze and handle them in detail as follows:
1. The temporary parking of the aerial work platform can be started every time, but if the parking time is long or the crankshaft can only rotate once when starting the next day. This phenomenon belongs to severe self discharge of the battery, and its plates and separators are severely aged, indicating that the battery is close to being scrapped and needs to be replaced at this time.
2. When the aerial work platform is started, the starter suddenly rotates weakly, accompanied by the smell of burning rubber or smoke coming out from the battery. This situation is often caused by poor contact between the pole post and pole post clamp, resulting in heating and burning damage.
3. The engine cannot start when the start switch is turned to the start position, and there are no other phenomena. This type of malfunction is caused by the key and switch not being connected to the starting circuit due to wear and tear; Secondly, the starter relay is not connected to the starter electromagnetic switch circuit; Thirdly, the power switch is not connected to the main circuit.
4. If there is an idle sound of collision between the starter drive gear and the engine flywheel ring gear when the high-altitude work platform is started, the reasons may be the following two: one is the deformation of the meshing cutting surface of the flywheel ring gear; The second issue is that the clearance between the starter drive gear and the flywheel ring gear is too large. If the two cannot mesh, the engine cannot start.
