2. Carefully record maintenance and care, and measure the open-circuit voltage.
3. For batteries in normal use, the voltage should not be lower than 11 volts. If it is lower than 11 volts, there is a possibility of a short circuit. However, if the battery has been stored for an extended period, the voltage can be lower than 11 volts. Batteries with a voltage above 9 volts can be charged first. Batteries with a voltage below 9 volts should be recharged with water and then recharged after the voltage is above 9 volts.
4. If the battery becomes hot during charging, it indicates softening of the battery plates. Minor battery softening can be repaired, but severe softening cannot. If the battery is slightly warm, stop charging and wait until the temperature cools down before resuming.
5. For batteries under 14AH, if the discharge time is less than 50 minutes, add water for a deep discharge. For batteries over 17AH, if the discharge time is less than 80 minutes, add water for a similar deep discharge. Generally speaking, batteries that have been used for more than six months require watering. After a deep discharge, condition the battery first. Once the voltage rises above 10V, recharge with water until the saturation light is solid and the recharge light flashes for at least three hours.
6. After maintenance, recharge with water is mandatory. The recharge time varies; some may fully charge immediately, while others may take only a few minutes. However, regardless of the time, this step is essential.
7. Batteries should be stored in an environment with a temperature between 0°C and 35°C. Batteries that have been stored for more than six months require charging and maintenance. The storage location should be kept dry, clean and well ventilated.
