Storage precautions for metal swing arm sprinkler heads
 日期:2025/8/26 14:57:00

Metal swing arm sprinkler heads are commonly used equipment in agricultural and garden irrigation, and their metal components (such as swing arms, springs, bearings, etc.) are susceptible to corrosion or damage due to environmental factors. To extend the service life and ensure stable performance for the next use, the following key points should be noted when storing:

1. Cleaning and drying treatment

Thoroughly clean

Disassembly and cleaning: If the nozzle is detachable, separate the rocker arm, nozzle, filter screen and other components, and use a soft bristled brush or compressed air to remove internal mud, scale and residual pesticides.

Chemical cleaning: For stubborn stains (such as rust, algae), soak in a weak acidic solution (such as 5% citric acid) for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse with clean water.

. Avoid using strong acids or bases to prevent corrosion of metals.

Prohibit high-pressure flushing: Avoid using high-pressure water guns to directly impact the inside of the nozzle to prevent damage to precision components such as bearings and sealing rings.

.

Completely dry

Natural drying: Lay the cleaned parts flat in a dry and ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight (UV rays may accelerate the aging of plastic parts).

.

Auxiliary drying: For parts that are difficult to dry (such as threaded holes, spring gaps), a low-power hot air blower (temperature ≤ 50 ℃) or a clean cloth can be used to wipe them to ensure that there is no residual moisture.

.

II. Rust prevention and lubrication protection

Metal parts rust prevention

Coating rust proof oil: Apply a thin layer of rust proof oil (such as WD-40 or mineral oil) evenly on the metal surfaces of rocker arms, springs, shaft pins, etc., forming a protective film to prevent oxidation.

.

Rust inhibitor selection: For long-term storage, gas-phase rust inhibitors (such as VCI rust proof paper) can be used to suppress corrosion by evaporating corrosion inhibitors.

. Plastic component protection: If the nozzle contains plastic components (such as rocker arm sleeves, sealing rings), avoid contact with rust proof oil to prevent expansion or deformation.

Lubrication key parts

Bearings and shaft pins: Apply a small amount of high-temperature grease (such as lithium grease) to the rocker arm bearings and shaft pins to reduce friction and wear.

. Spring maintenance: Gently press the spring and apply lubricating grease to ensure its elasticity recovery. If the spring is fatigued (such as a length reduction of>10%), a new spring needs to be replaced.

III. Storage Environment Control

Temperature and Humidity

Temperature Range: The storage environment temperature should be controlled between -10 ℃ and 40 ℃ to avoid extreme temperatures causing metal embrittlement or grease deterioration.

. Humidity control: If the relative humidity is ≤ 60%, a dehumidifier or desiccant (such as a silicone bag) can be used to reduce the humidity. If the environment is humid, it is necessary to regularly check the rust prevention effect.

Dust and insect proof

Sealed packaging: Place the nozzle components in a sealed plastic bag or moisture-proof box to prevent dust and insects from entering.

. Storage location: Choose a clean and non corrosive gas warehouse, away from chemical substances such as fertilizers and pesticides.

Avoid mechanical damage

Classified storage: Arrange according to model and specifications, avoiding heavy pressure or collision.

. Fixed bracket: If the nozzle needs to be stored vertically, use a dedicated bracket to fix the rocker arm to prevent deformation.

Fourth, Regular Inspection and Maintenance

Inspection Cycle

Short term Storage (1-3 months): Check the integrity of the rust proof oil film once a month and reapply if necessary.

. Long term storage (more than 3 months): Remove the nozzle every 2-3 months, clean, lubricate, and test its functionality again.

Function Test

Manual Operation: Gently press the rocker arm to check if its swing is flexible, without any jamming or abnormal noise.

.

Nozzle inspection: Use clean water to briefly test whether the nozzle emits water evenly. If it is blocked, it needs to be cleaned or replaced.

.

V. Precautions for transportation. Fixed position: Fix the nozzle inside the transport box to avoid collision with each other.

Moisture prevention measures

Sealed packaging: Place desiccant inside the transport box and seal the nozzle with a plastic bag to prevent rainwater or moisture from entering.
